The Villa Costa Rose team works hard to ensure we deliver sustainable business and environmentally responsible practices.

In 2012 Villa Costa Rose was awarded certification by Green Tourism Accreditation as a Green Leader, achieving more than 65% across 11 Categories of assessment including: Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Staff Practices, Sustainability Management, Procurement etc

We are dedicated to ensuring the best possible practices are followed and new initiatives are implemented frequently. We aim to be a GTA Green Champion within the next 3 years thereby maximising our environmental, social and economic effectiveness.

Some of our initiatives include:

Solar Heating

Wind Power

Low Energy LED Lighting throughout.

Our energy conservation has resulted in savings of over 30,000 Kilowatt Hours per annum – enough to power 6 additional homes for a year.

Conservation and Charity Support: Save the Rhino, St Luke's Hospice, WWF etc.

Food Carbon Mileage monitoring, support of Fair Trade and Proudly South African produce. Biodiversity Wine Initiative support, organic, free range and elimination of white sugar.

Back Office Rationalisation: Including standby, hibernation modes, A rated printer, recycled paper, paperless check in and check out.

Water Storage and Conservation including flow regulators: Saving over 10,000 litres of water per annum.

Landscaping Rationalisation: Including water-wise, rock gardens, indigenous, evergreen, organic and natural pest control.

Equitable Staff Practices. Unlike the norm, we pay our staff more than double the industry average. They receive annual appraisals and bonuses and are trained progressively with capacity building focus.

Asset Replacement Strategy: All old equipment is is donated and replaced with A-rated energy efficiency equivalents.
